What is the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ?

Who is God?
God created the universe. Colossians 1.16; John 1.1-14; Acts 17.24-27, 14.15
God is the God of all nations. Rev 14.6-7; Galatians 3.6-9; Matthew 28.18-20
God is Holy and Just. Luke 1.49; Revelation 4.8, 15.3-4; 2Thessalonians 1.5-10
God is Love. Romans 8.38-39; Ephesians 3.16-19; 1John 3.1; 4.7-10

Who am I?
I am accountable to God. Romans 1.18-20, 2.16, 14.9-12
I am sinful. James 4.17; 2.10; Romans 3.10-12, 3.23, 5.12
God must punish my sin because of His Holiness and Justice. Romans 2.5, 6.23a (first half); 2Thessalonians 1.6-9
I am not able to cancel my sin with good works, nor earn my way to heaven. Titus 3.4-7; Ephesians 2.8-9
I am loved by God - so much that God sacrificed His Own Son so that He could both satisfy His holy punishment and forgive me. (This is Good News!) Romans 5.6-10, 6.23; Colossians 2.13-14; 1Peter 3.18; Hebrews 7.23-27; 9.27-28; John 3.16
Because my sin deserves God’s punishment, Jesus is the ONLY way God can forgive me. Acts 4.10-12; John 14.6

How can I accept the free gift God offers?
The Bible tells us how we should respond to God's free offer:
BELIEVE – Put your faith and trust in Jesus.  This one is the foundation for all the other parts of our response: Mark 16.16; John 3.16; Acts 10.43; Romans 10.9-10; 1Timothy 1.16
But belief alone is not enough. James 2.19
REPENT – Turn away from sin (wrong living) and turn to God: Acts 2.37-38, 3.19; Romans 6.1-2
CONFESS “JESUS IS LORD” – This is a verbal promise to live the rest of your life following and obeying Jesus, your new King: Matthew 10.32; Romans 10.9-10
BE BAPTIZED – Be immersed in water as a believer.  This biblical, physical response brings some tangibility to our decision.  It is an act of personal willingness to commit to Jesus: Mark 16.16; John 3.5; Romans 6.3-4; Acts 2.37-38, 22.16; 1Peter 3.21
When we respond to Christ the way He commands in the Bible, as long as we continue in faith, we can have FULL ASSURANCE of our salvation and God's promises.

What next?
